Dance

Pupils from Year 7 through to Year 11 learn to respond to stimuli, create, rehearse, refine, perform and evaluate. A great effort is made to provide a comfortable environment where pupils can feel safe to express themselves, where they can perform to each other and talk about their own work and the work of others sensitively. Dance lessons are also an alternative form of exercise (without the ball skills that a games lesson may require) and through studying dance from other periods in history and from around the world pupils are encouraged to respond thoughtfully to other cultures too. Social skills and confidence are developed and the whole school agenda of PRIDE is reinforced.
