SUBJECT:

Science

Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Principles

Science is a platform by which pupils gain the necessary skills and knowledge to coherently and respectfully challenge the world around them. We recognise that for many of our pupils, science is a difficult subject that they can often feel far removed from. We therefore encourage pupils to ‘think like a scientist’ rather than just ‘learn science’ through a teaching approach underpinned by science capital; whereby all pupils are valued and their varying scientific experiences embraced. We have designed our curriculum with the intent that our pupils will develop an in-depth understanding of the world around them and an appreciation for the role science has played in society - past, present and in an increasingly scientific and technological future.
