Assessment Method:

There are 3 exams at the end of Year 13, which make up 70% of the final grade. The other 30% is based on your practical performance in 1 sport and an oral assessment of a performance. Why Should I Follow This Course? A Level Physical Education is an academic course designed to test your understanding of all aspects of sport. Linking theory to practice is a major part of the course, understanding how physiological and psychological factors can impact on practical performance. You will also recognise how sport has developed over time, and how contemporary sporting issues impact on our everyday enjoyment of them. This course gives you a full and detailed insight into sport and all it encompasses.

What will I learn?

There are 3 topics you will study, plus the practical and oral assessment: Component 1: Physiological Factors Affecting Performance Component 2: Psychological Factors Affecting Performance Component 3: SocioCultural Issues in Physical Activity and Sport

Where Will This Qualification Take Me?

This subject could lead you towards numerous University courses, including: Sports Studies, Sports Science, PE teacher training, Sports Management, Strength and Conditioning, Exercise and Health, Nutrition, Sports Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy. In addition, A level PE is now well regarded as an A level subject when applying to courses in different fields of study. It will also help to gain employment in most sporting sectors such as: Sports Coaching, PE teacher training, Physiotherapy, Personal training, Sports Psychologist, lecturing and Sports Management

Entry Requirements:

To enrol upon the course a minimum of level 6 in GCSE PE must be obtained. If GCSE PE has not been studied a level 6 in Biology must be obtained. Participation in one of the sports from the specification outside of school would be preferred
