Why Should I Follow This Course?

This course allows you to access an A-Level in a language which you already speak. It is a great link if you are considering continuing your language study to university. It also provides you with valuable UCAS points for a university application for any degree. What Teaching and Learning Methods Will Be Used? This course is largely self-taught. The teacher will guide you through the requirements of the specification, help you to mark and correct work you have completed independently, and help you to prepare for the examinations. You will have regular check-in lessons with the teacher, but the rest of the time you are expected to work independently. The teacher will provide useful websites, books and resources to support your learning, where available.

What Will I Learn?

Most courses consist of themes including current affairs, issues in society, history and politics, and a cultural unit. These vary by language, but your teacher will go through the specification with you at the start of the course. Recent students have studied: Spanish, French, Arabic, Russain, Italian, German. Other languages are available.

Where Will This Qualification Take Me?

Linguists are in short supply; an A-Level in a foreign language will make you more employable and many universities recognise and value this. Many degree subjects can be combined with a language, to enable you to continue your language learning journey.

Recent Languages studied:

Russian, Turkish, Italian, Arabic, French, German, Spanish, Panjabi, Urdu
