Assessment Method: The course is assessed through the completion of 4 units. Of these 4, 2 are external examinations and 2 are pieces of coursework
Why Should I Follow This Course?
This course is suited for students who wish to study sport, but prefer different ways to work and be assessed. It is a more applied course, where students will learn a wide range of topics, but have more input in the topics they cover and the sports they study. It suits learners that are independent thinkers, but also prepared to work hard. As it is a more practical based course, it suits those that would like a future in the sport industry.
What will I learn?
The BTEC National is divided into Mandatory units (the ones you must do) and Optional units.
Units 1, 2 and 3 are Mandatory units and Units 1& 2 are assessed externally. Unit 3 & 7 will be assessed internally.
Units covered Unit 1: Anatomy & physiology.
Unit 2: Fitness Training and programming for health, sport and well-being.
Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry.
Unit 7: Practical Sports Performance
Where Will This Qualification Take Me?
It is a vocational qualification that will help prepare you for a huge range of careers. You may be thinking of pursuing a career in the sports industry and this would be the ideal course to help you meet your potential. You may be considering joining the health and fitness industry as an exercise professional, or thinking of Sports Psychology, Nutrition or Coaching, the opportunities are endless. This is a great course for those that either want to go University to study sport, or those that would like to move straight in to employment.
Entry Requirements: There are no specific entry requirements, though if you have studied Btec Sport we like you to have obtained at least a Level 2 pass. If you have done GCSE PE, the ideally a grade 4.
