Westwood Awards Evening

Posted on: 23/07/2025

On the evening of June 25th, The Westwood Academy came together to honour the outstanding achievements of our students at the much-anticipated Awards Evening. This special event was a celebration of excellence, reflecting the core values that define our school community: ambition, kindness, respect, resilience, and reflection.

The atmosphere was filled with pride and joy as students were recognised not only for their academic successes but also for their contributions to the school and the wider community. It was truly wonderful to see so many young people celebrated for embodying these values in their everyday lives.

We were privileged to welcome a truly inspiring guest speaker, Melanie Barratt. Melanie, who works within the KMAT, shared her incredible journey as a Blind Swimmer and Double Paralympic Champion. Her achievements are extraordinary — including being a 6-time World Champion, World Triathlon Champion, and the first blind woman to swim the English Channel. Melanie’s story of determination, resilience, and ambition resonated deeply with everyone present, motivating us all to push beyond limits and embrace challenges with courage.

Our Awards Evening was not just a ceremony but a celebration of the remarkable spirit and potential within our student body. We look forward to many more moments of success and inspiration as we continue to grow together.
